Loudoun County Skate Project was founded in 2005 by Stephen Jefferson. Stephen has been living in Loudoun County for over 20 years and has been an avid skateboarder since 1998. He graduated from Park View High School and is currently enrolled at George Mason University with a Computer Science major and Non-profit Studies minor. Accompanying these responsibilities, he works persistently on keeping LCSP alive and well.

Stephen began LCSP with a small petition that got passed around at schools, shopping malls, and skateparks. The petition and skatepark idea were growing, after just a few months the petition held over 1,000 signatures. He began meeting with Parks and Recreation representatives, introducing the idea by showing them rough draft sketches of what the skatepark could look like. PR became very supportive in the idea and have been helpful ever since, they even donated land for the Sterling skatepark project. This amount of support has boosted the amount of motivation to keep LCSP's heart beating.

Today, support for LCSP has been seen throughout many communities in Loudoun, as well as surrounding regions and other states. Stephen continues to dedicate his free time to the organization in hopes to finish Sterling's first skatepark. Along with this achievement, he can go forward in guiding other young skaters to do the same for their community.
